Road L1578 is situated in Nsimbini, Umbumbulu within eThekwini Metropolitan Municipality in KwaZulu-Natal. (KZ 235). Road L1578 commences at the P80 (M35) at approximately Km 4.5 of M35 and runs through a densely populated urban area and then returns to the M35 at Km 6.5 (of the M35).

This road is 2.5km long of which 680m between km 0.920 and km 1.600 is very steep at 14% grade. It is situated in the Folweni area within Ward 95/67 of eThekwini Municipality and falls under the Makhanya/Sobonakhona Traditional Authority. The construction of L1578 will enable the Folweni residents to access community structures such as Qhosheyiphethe Primary School, Folweni Clinic and Local pension pay points. The road is constructed in concrete as a labour-intensive construction project to increase local job opportunities.
