The Msinga Regional Bulk Water Project which is located in Msinga area in uMzinyathi District
Municipality is currently being designed and implemented by Ibhongo Consulting. The project footprint lies within Msinga Local Municipality, which is one of four local municipalities constituting uMzinyathi District Municipality. The Msinga area is accessible via the R33, linking it with Dundee, Ladysmith and Pietermaritzburg.
The bulk pipeline is being installed alongside the R33 Road which links the economic hub towns of Tugela Ferry and Pomeroy. The bulk water scheme will serve to provide potable water to 11 wards of Msinga. The scope of work which is currently being implemented in phases involves the construction of a 14Ml/day capacity river abstraction works, 14Ml/day capacity upgrade of Sampofu Water Treatment Works, construction of 80kms of bulk water steel pipelines, construction of reinforced concrete reservoirs and high lift pump stations.
